Churn Dash Block Swap

The blocks from the Churn Dash block swap arrived in yesterday’s mail.  Now begins the task of figuring out what layout to use to make these blocks into a neat quilt!

Simple Strip

I finished this little piece a few days ago – but didn’t like the pictures that I took.  This picture isn’t fantastic – but it’s a bit better.  It was a quick little mini quilt.

A wonderful thought …

Found out today that Martingale books was giving away two eBooks done by Robin Strobel, a past employee there, who has passed away recently.  While I had never really been aware of Robin’s work, I took a look at the free books – and something on the opening pages of The Casual Quilter really made me stop and think.

“Sew with hopes and memories.  Give with love.  Perfection is not required.”

If you want to check out The Casual Quilter and Quilter’s Bounty, check out their website today to download the PDF version of the books.  You have to put them in your shopping cart, go through the check-out process and then you’ll get the links to the books that you can download as PDF files for free.

Grandmother’s Choice BOW – Week 25

I didn’t like my first version of this block, which was fussy cut but didn’t turn out well at all.  This block came out much better.  Barbara Brackman refers to this as the Carrie Nation block.

Half Snowball 2/10/2013

Here’s a picture of the little Half Snowball quilt.  Please, ignore the clips from the hanger at the top of the photo.

This little quilt, which measures about 12” x 15” is part of a series of three little quilts in the Easy as 1-2-3 kit from Temecula Quilt Co.  The Civil War Windmill quilt that I showed a few days ago, and the Simple Stripe quilt that I showed on Monday are part of the same kit.

Simple Strip Quilt – Day 1

Okay, I already had the pieces cut out for this … but … I walked into the quilt room last night a little after midnight, and by 12:45 I had this tiny quilt top put together.  I would have gone ahead and added some backing and batting and started the quilting, but I forced myself to go to bed.  The picture was taken in bad lighting, late at night, with my iPad2, so it’s not the best picture.   I’ll try to take a better picture when the quilting has been finished.

Civil War Windmill – Day 2

Worked on this tiny little wall hanging this afternoon.  Did most of the cutting last night, for this, and two other tiny wall hangings that use the same fabric group.  Now I just need to figure out how I want to quilt it!

Dixie Diary: Month 2

Got this month’s block done today.  I was finally feeling up to it after an unusual weekend involving a one-night trip to the Kalahari Water Park & Resort in Sandusky, Ohio on Friday night.
